Come one, come all to the National Balloon Festival in Statesville, NC. People all over the world come to North Carolina from September 14-16th, to see these hot air ballons in action! This site is designed to provide information about the festival and to let all know that balloon riding is for anyone!
In 1973, Tracy Barnes, a designer of the first hot air balloons, established The Balloon Works which made and sold hot air balloons. The Festival got it's start in 1974, when a flight company owner named Bill Meadows invited people all over the United States for a week of flying and camping. Even though there have been a few minor relocations over the years, The annual balloon rally has enticed hundreds of thousands of people for over 30 years!
